surf night #2

Ya es verano en Comillas.
Llegó el sol, el agua se ha calentado significativamente, los días se alargan tanto que a veces encajan 3 sesiones al día, y ya es posible entrar al agua con un traje corto o una chaqueta.
Estas últimas semanas nos hemos interesado en el shape de alaïas, en el bodysurf, en formas alternativas de disfrutar las olas para los próximos meses.
Hasta ahora evolucionábamos en un ambiente formateado y regido por ojos ajenos. Parece que se acabó, y se nota cada vez mas que vivimos un periodo fantástico para ser un surfer.
Un periodo que nos permite elegir entre una multitud de tablas y artilugios. Un periodo en el que por fin, prima el surf mas que el aspecto del equipo. Un periodo que da más espacio y sentido a las sensaciones en el agua, cualquier sea nuestro nível.

Todo esto nos da ganas de disfrutar más todavía de estos 3 próximos meses. Y aunque muchos de vosotros viváis lejos de la costa, esperamos poder animaros a subir mas a menudo a las playas y a pasar mas tiempo en el agua.
Es importante, este tiempo que pasáis lejos del mar no se recupera. Eso suena un poco oscuro, pero no es tarde para reaccionar.

Hemos pensado daros una buena oportunidad para empezar.
El sabado 13 de junio organizamos en Flying la segunda fiesta del año, la primera del verano.
Aprovecharemos para inaugurar otra exhibición de Surf Art, acuarelas de Joao Catarino, pintor portugués, y para quedarnos abiertos tarde con musica y marcha.

(It's summer in Comillas. The sun appeared once again, the water temperature is much better, days are getting longer and longer and sometimes even allow 3 sessions a day, and it's already possible to surf with a shorty or even just a jacket.
These last weeks we have dedicated time to shape alaïas, to bodysurf, and interested ourselves in alternate ways to enjoy the waves for the months to come. Until now, we were evolving in a formatted environment, driven by outsiders. It seems that time is over, and we believe it is a fantastic moment to be a surfer. A time that allows us to pick whatever board or craft we feel like surfing. A time when finally surf matters more then equipment. A time that leaves more room and meaning to our feeling in the water, whatever our skill.
It makes us want to enjoy even more those next 3 months. We know that many of you live far away from the coast, but we hope we can encourage you to come more often to the beach and spend more time catching waves. It's important because you can't take back the time you spend far away from the ocean. It sounds a little dark, but it's not too late to react.
We thought we would give you an opportunity to start. Saturday June 13th, Flying organises the second surf night of the year, the first of the summer. We will present a new Surf Art exhibit, water colours made by Joao Catarino, a Portuguese artist, and we will stay open late listening to music and partying. See you then.)
